Joan has been Arcadia's Receptionist for 19-years. "I enjoy greeting clients and their pets. I also enjoy working with our awesome staff. They're like family!" Joan's always loved working with animals and enjoys her Blue and Red Heelers 'Bella' and 'Dessa', her tortoiseshell cat, 'Littlebit' and several pygmy goats (who all have names) plus lots of chickens. "I just love working with my animals at home. My husband and I often take the heelers hiking on trails off the Blue Ridge Parkway."
It was interacting with her personal pets growing up that inspired Rae to pursue a career in Veterinary Technology. She received her RVT in 2003 and has been on staff at Arcadia for 16 years. "What I enjoy most about my work is interacting with my clients--both 2-legged and four-legged! I also enjoy acquiring and running samples for diagnostic testing." Rae is married with two wonderful children. She's also an avid 'MMO gamer'.
Kim has been with Arcadia since 2004. She has 25+ years experience (more if you count her childhood passion for animals!). "For me, caring for animals has always been a passion, to some extent. The nurturing, care-taking and wanting to make a difference is what inspired me to enter this field. We have a great team at AVH! We all strive for excellence with our patients and clients." Kim raises goats, has a dog, a cat and a horse and helps her husband raise Angus cattle on their farm.
Lauren (pictured with AVH mascot "Ava") has been a Kennel Assistant with Arcadia for 9+ years. “Working at Arcadia allows me to fulfill my passion for working with animals.” Lauren confesses that she “loves all kinds of animals” and enjoys being around and caring for them. "My coworkers are like family. My very first dog came from Arcadia. Her name is ‘Zoey’ and she was found abandoned at 4-months old on the side of the road. Zoey has been a real blessing in my life.”
Beverly started with AVH in June of 2015. She sees managing the kennel as an opportunity to work more closely with animals, a love she’s always had. An avid horse enthusiast with 14-years of experience, Beverly also enjoys giving riding lessons at Silverlin Farms and spending time with her two horses and two dogs. Beverly is currently a senior at NC A&T University. She has also owned a pet-sitting service for over four years, caring for both large & small animals.
Since childhood, a deep love and compassion for all creatures found Morgan caring for and rescuing animals. She’s been grooming for AVH since early 2018 and it’s a perfect fit for her. “I love working with these lovely ladies at AVH. It’s nice to fit in with people who love and care for animals as much as I do.” Morgan has two beautiful daughters, two dogs and two cats and also keeps freshwater tropical fish and reptiles. She also enjoys art, silversmithing and cars.
With us since 2019, Haley has been involved with animals her whole life. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at NC State where she’s also a member of the Animal Science and Pre-Vet Clubs. ”I love working with animals of all types. At AVH, I learn more about veterinary medicine and get hands-on experience.” Haley enjoys trail riding, horse competitions, showing American Saddlebreds, pet sitting and helping her dad at their small beef cattle farm. She has 3 horses, 2 dogs and a cat!
Ariel is one of our dedicated Kennel Technicians. She's been working with animals professionally since 2014 and with Arcadia since February, 2019. "I have always loved being around and loving on animals, so I wanted to continue caring for them in a professional setting." Ariel has 1 dog and 4 cats and enjoys getting to know all the different personalities of the pets we care for.
Andrea has been with AVH since mid-2021. “After many years of experience with animals and helping our vet care for our farm animals, I thought it would be exciting and interesting to delve into the medical aspect of animal care. I love my coworkers! And I love helping pets feel better and making their owners happy!” Andrea enjoys horseback riding and walking with her dogs. Before joining our team, she volunteered at Fuzzy Friends Pet Food Pantry helping low-income families feed their pets.
Somatra has been serving with us as a Kennel Tech since 2022. She LOVES animals! “I’ve had plenty of pets all my life. I like interacting with all types of animals.” Somatra is majoring in Wildlife Biology and is a member of the Veterinary and Garden Clubs as well as “Paws for Shelter” at her University.
